Last week Nora and I were in a hit and run car accident. While we are both okay (praise God!) between the two of us, it completely freaked me out. Let’s just say that Nora was the brave one.
All of the what if questions swirled in my mind. What if we’d been pushed into the huge intersection? What if Nora had gotten hurt? What if it had been worse?!
Fears started bubbling up and anxiety set in so I had to make a conscious decision to silence those thoughts, to practice gratitude, and to give myself the time to process.
Nothing good comes from dwelling on the negative.
I think that’s why I’m so passionate about brands that focus on storytelling as a way to connect with their audience! Stories of overcoming obstacles, stories of vulnerability, stories that move you to laugh out loud or squeeze the ones you love a bit tighter…
Those are messages I’ll gladly listen to any day of the week.
Pain-point marketing and preying on insecurities and desperate dreams is the OLD way of doing things.
Is it just me or do these traditional marketing tactics leave you feeling like:
a walking freebie
a slave to Instagram
a total imposter compared to the “big names”
like you’re being “that girl” who’s always selling
The worst part? When you rely on them, you find that all the effort isn’t moving you forward or getting you clients!
As a result, you totally disappear. This in turn feeds into not getting clients, not making enough money, and feeling like a failure all over again!!
I want to encourage you to end this cycle by getting clear around your stories and messaging and find confidence in showing up as you are!
Here’s what I’ve noticed most of my clients need prior to working with me:
Clarity >> around what you offer, who you’re talking to, and what to say
Confidence >> to not hide behind words but to show your beautiful face, be bold, and talk about how you can help people (with passion vs insecurity)!
Which one do you need more of today, friend? Or is it both?
P.S.
