Hey my friend! I’ve been thinking about you — can you believe there’s only 4 months left in 2021?! Where has the time gone? I blink and my kids are way older. I reheat my coffee for the fourth time and it’s somehow 3:40 in the afternoon and I feel like not much has gotten done today.
To tell you the truth, I’m tired! My clients are tired. We all want to be offline and outside enjoying fall’s sneak peek of cooler temps, embracing people in actual hugs rather than virtual ones, and signing off our computers well before the workday is even over.
But there’s this rub, this mindset, this idea that your business will only grow when you’re actively working. There’s also sayings like, “The more rest I take, the more money I make.”
Queue the unpopular opinion: I’m not sure that that’s true for everyone.
Of course rest is essential for creativity, innovation, longevity, health, etc. etc. etc. but when you’re in the start up phases of business or you’re still a team of one like I was up til 3 months ago, when you rest THINGS DON’T GET DONE unless you have systems in place where certain elements are automated or tasks are delegated.
When I hear coaches or other service providers say “The more rest I take, the more money I make.” I kind of roll my eyes cause I’m like, HOW?! Who’s doing lead gen, responding to clients, doing project work, managing the books, yada yada yada?!
Here’s the thing, friend. You can do it all but you can only do it all at the same time for so long…
At some point you have to have support.
That could be an assistant, a coach, accountability partners, or a mastermind group. It’s SUPER helpful to learn from someone who’s a few steps ahead of you and can show you a path forward, pitfalls to avoid, and help you build things like:
1) A profitable product suite
2) Marketing plans
3) Launching strategies
4) Systems for team, client, and project management
Once you have the systems and support in place, THEN that saying of rest & money can be true for you too.
