Instagram is like one giant game of keeping up with the Joneses. Those perfectly curated squares, likes, saves, and shares can seem alluring and give you a false sense of security and make you feel like your business is growing when in actuality, more IG followers doesn’t mean more money in your bank account. While Instagram is a fantastic tool to build brand awareness, it should NOT be your only way to promote your business.
Here are 3 reasons to avoid IG as your only marketing strategy:
- Only 3-4% of your audience sees your content compared to 25%+ on email
- People are more often passively scrolling rather than intentionally engaging
- You don’t own your followers or the platform
Bonus reason 👉Instagram is formulated to keep you on their platform and not onto your email list, website, blog post, etc. so spending hours and hours on here may not be your biggest needle-mover.
Having an omnipresent marketing approach is the way to go. What does that mean? Basically spreading your message across all the channels simultaneously so that you can increase your brand visibility and engagement.
Here’s an insider tip: Create video content that you can turn into graphics, blog posts, podcast episodes, and emails!
